UNIQUE ‘HOME-LIKE’ ENVIRONMENT

In contrast to the typical hospital setting, the environment at Tara is closer to the accommodations within a home.  Clients become fully immersed in our 30-day treatment program. We have a low client- staff ratio and our staff is caring and compassionate.  Many find this smaller setting to be ideal for their mental, emotional, and spiritual growth. Continued treatment, when appropriate, is provided in our Transitional Residential Program and in our Chemical Dependency Intensive Outpatient Program.

MULTI-DISCIPLINARY STAFF

The treatment at Tara is delivered by a team of professionals representing many disciplines including nurses, physicians, psychologists, and addiction counselors.  This multi-disciplinary team allows Tara to meet the specific needs of each individual.

HOLISTIC TREATMENT APPROACH

The treatment program at Tara is holistic in nature, focusing on various approaches to help individuals learn the concepts of recovery while healing physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.

PSYCHO-EDUCATION

Using various teaching strategies, counselors educate individuals on both the basic and advanced concepts of addiction and recovery, anger management, relationship dynamics, coping strategies, vocational skills, as well as many other important facets vital to the success of their recovery.

GROUP AND INDIVIDUAL THERAPY

Our highly qualified therapists work with individuals to help them emotionally process many of the feelings involved in early recovery.  This requires our ability to use many different approaches for treatment. Specifically, Tara provides the following three well regarded and proven therapies:

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy – This form of therapy is directed toward problem solving and teaching skills that are needed to modify thinking and behavior.

Motivational Interviewing – This counseling method helps clients resolve ambivalent feelings and to find the internal motivation to change behavior.

Gestalt Therapy – This therapeutic approach focuses on the here and now.  It helps clients understand what is happening in the present rather than what they perceive to be happening based on experience.  It leads clients to view their life through a clearer lens.

RELAPSE PREVENTION THERAPY

Terence Gorski is an internationally recognized expert on substance abuse treatment and is best known for his contribution to relapse prevention.  Tara uses Relapse Prevention Therapy (RPT) to aide individuals in recognizing and managing their core personality and lifestyle. This mindfulness and self-awareness increases their understanding of the impact of the addiction and can lead them to create a life without the pain of the addiction.

EXPERIENTIAL THERAPY

Tara recognizes that treatment and recovery is a dynamic learning process.  We utilize many team building and recovery concepts. These groups help individuals express feelings that may not come easily in formal “talk therapy.”  These group exercises are taught by trained team-building facilitators. Here are some examples of these activities:

  • EQUINE-ASSISTED THERAPY

This group process uses horses as a tool to teach recovery skills.  These exercises are conducted by Equine Growth and Learning Association (EGALA) certified instructors.

  • YOGA AND 12 STEP RECOVERY (Y12SR)

The combination of yoga with addiction counseling services creates a model that truly addresses addiction as the physical, mental and spiritual disease that it is.

  • ART THERAPY

Utilizing Art as a means of self-expression, clients tap into their own creative mind and in doing so, learn to enjoy things again.  Enjoyment and hobbies are valued skills in recovery.

FAMILY INVOLVEMENT

It is our vision to have professionals enhance the health and recovery of not only the individuals in recovery but also for their families.  Families are encouraged to attend our bi-weekly Family Education Program, visitation, and our monthly Family Day Program.
